Why 100% Light-Transmission Inspection Matters

A single pinhole in a 500 m² backlit panel becomes a visible bright spot at night. Here is how NCF's 100% light-transmission inspection catches defects that sampling misses.

The billboard amplifies every defect

A coated fabric defect that is invisible on a sample swatch becomes a bright pinhole, a dark streak or a colour blotch when it is stretched across a 500 m² billboard and lit from behind. The larger the panel, the more a single defect costs — which is why sampling-based inspection is not enough for backlit and frontlit display media.

Every meter, not every batch

Every meter of finished NCF fabric passes over a backlit inspection table before packing. The operator sees the full web backlit at production speed, so pinholes, streaks, inclusions and coating skips are flagged in real time and the defective section is cut out — not shipped. This is a 100% inspection, not a statistical sample.

Paired with ink-absorption testing

Light-transmission inspection catches optical defects; ink-absorption testing catches coating defects that only show up under print. Each production batch is drawdown-tested for ink uptake and colour density before release, so the media you receive prints the way it should on the first pass.

Traceability back to the line

Every roll is batch-coded so a defect report from the field can be traced back to the production line and lot. That closed loop is what turns a one-time defect into a permanent process fix — and it is the reason NCF can guarantee zero-defect output on display media.
